My Story

Why SPARX?

I'm a Steveston hockey parent who got tired of inconsistent sharpenings and game-day lineups at the rink. So I brought the SPARX system home and started sharpening for the neighbourhood.

Hand sharpening depends on whoever's holding the skate that day — pressure, angle, and feel all drift. SPARX automates the grind, delivering increased consistency. That means the edge your kid loved last week is the edge they get this week.

Same hollow. Same bite. Every time.

Hockey is expensive enough these days — my goal is to bring affordable, quality sharpening for Jets & Ravens kids. Every little bit helps!

SPARX edge consistency repeatable
Typical hand sharpen varies
A skate blade before sharpening — uneven, worn edge
The same blade after a SPARX grind — clean, even, game-ready edges

FAQs

01 What hollows (ROH) can I get?
I stock the standard SPARX 1/2″ and 3/8″ grinding rings, plus the 1/2″ FIRE flat-bottom ring. If you'd like a custom ring for a different hollow, you're welcome to purchase one — just text me.
02 How long does it take?
A single sharpen takes about 5–10 minutes. Depending on my schedule I can often do it right away — otherwise I'll have you drop the skates off and pick them up later that day or the next.
03 Why SPARX instead of hand sharpening?
A hand sharpen depends on the operator's pressure, angle and feel — which drift from pass to pass and shop to shop. SPARX automates the grind, so the same hollow depth is reproduced precisely every time. Consistent edges mean your skater knows exactly what they're getting, game after game.
